Receiving a top dentist award is extremely meaningful for the team at Nova Dental Partners as we work tirelessly to create a welcoming environment at our dental practices in Fairfax, Woodbridge, and Alexandria with top level and comprehensive dental services.

To compile the Top Dentists list, Northern Virginia Magazine sent out surveys to over 2,000 Northern Virginia dentists in seven specialties and asked them to recommend other dentists to whom they would refer friends and family. Those on the list received the most nominations from their professional peers and were vetted by Northern Virginia Magazine’s in-house research team to make sure they are in good standing with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals.

This method of picking the winners means a lot to our team as we appreciate other dental experts recommending us. It’s an honor to be included and we thank everyone for their nominations for this accolade.

Due to the rapidly evolving events of COVID-19, the American Dental Association and Governor Ralph Northam have mandated closure for dental practices for routine dental care until April 30, 2020. This order may be renewed or extended as the date approaches, depending on the status of the situation.

At this time, Nova Dental Partners will be treating emergency patients by appointment only until further notice. If this notice affects your upcoming appointment (which may include routine care such as cleanings, normal restorative work, and maintenance), please consider your appointment cancelled.  We will be in contact with you to reschedule your appointment once the American Dental Association sets a more firm date where it seems more likely that we can practice in a safe environment.

If you have a dental emergency, please call our office directly. Our team will triage the urgency of your emergency and accordingly assist with emergency appointments, medications, and/or referrals.  We will also be available for teledentistry consults via video chat.

Nova Dental Partners is excited to officially welcome Dr. Naghmeh Pashmini to our team. Dr. Pashmini has joined the practice as an Associate General Dentist and will be working alongside Drs. Tavakkoli and Dr. Choi. We are confident that Dr. Pashmini will provide the same top quality dentistry our patients have been accustomed to.

Dr. Pashmini received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia followed by a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Pashmini’s mission is to take care of her patient’s dental needs, address their chief complaint and be gentle in all aspects of their care. Dr. Pashmini was placed on the Dean’s list for being amongst the top 10% of her class. She was also awarded an honors delegation for outstanding patient care. After graduating from Dental school, she completed General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she expanded her knowledge in advanced surgical, restorative and endodontic procedures as well as treating medically compromised patients.

Dr. Pashmini is proud to be an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Association of Cosmetic Dentistry and American Dental Association. She strives to continually enhance her knowledge and skills through continuing education courses. She has received additional training in placement and restoration of dental implants, Invisalign, and cosmetic procedures to be able to provide her patients with comprehensive care. Dr. Pashmini truly loves the artistic aspect of dentistry. “The precision of our work is what I like the best about my profession. I am dedicated to providing my very best work to each and every one of my patients.” she says.

Dr. Pashmini is an animal lover and enjoys hiking and running with her dog Leo. In her free time she enjoys traveling and trying new cuisines.

One of our patients recently came to us to restore their front teeth. Understandably, she was very concerned whether the restorations would match her existing teeth. These concerns are very normal and the good news is that with today's advancements, you no longer have to suffer the embarrassment of an unsightly discoloured teeth. In just one appointment, using composite veneers we were able to address the canted midline, asymmetrical front teeth and discolored restorations.

You might be surprised to hear that this entire procedure was completed in just one appointment! Typically there are no injections required and in this case we used a veneer that does not require much tooth reduction. As you can see from the results, our patient was thrilled with the results and so were we.

Another patient recently came to us to restore their front teeth. In just one appointment and no numbing required, Dr. Tavakkoli was able to restore the two front teeth with on small composite resin filling and one composite resin chairside veneer.

Dr. Choi studied at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and received the degree of Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2016. Dr. Choi is an Invisalign certified provider and has rigorous and comprehensive care training and experience. Dr. Choi completed numerous continuing education courses and was awarded #1 Office Main Clinical Director in the State of Indiana for 2016-2017.

Dr. Choi practices conservative dentistry backed up by the latest clinical research and proven dental diagnostics, techniques, and philosophies. Dr. Choi practices dentistry that is gentle and comfortable and always strives to provide quality dental treatment to his patients.

On a more personal note, Dr. Choi is Korean American who moved to the United States at the age of 8. He grew up in Ohio, but also moved around between Kentucky and Indiana. His hobbies include basketball, golf, snowboarding, and any other indoor/outdoor activities.

On Saturday, November 4th doctors Kamran and Kambiz Tavakkoli and their experienced team hosted a Free Dentistry Day at their Lake Ridge, Woodbridge dental practice, providing nearly 50 patients without dental insurance with nearly $30K worth of dental services including routine exams, cleanings, fillings and extractions.

Free Dentistry Day events help the growing number of people who can not afford dental care. About 74 million Americans had no dental coverage in 2016, according to the National Association of Dental Plans.

On June 9th and 10th, fifteen hundred champions went for gold in bocce, swimming, softball, track & field, bowling, and tennis showcasing some of Richmond’s top talent during Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics at the University of Richmond.

Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli and Dr. Kambiz Tavakkoli and members of the team from Nova Dental Partners went to the University of Richmond on June 10th, where they volunteered dental services as part of The Mission of Mercy program. The Mission of Mercy (MOM) projects are conducted in identified, underserved areas of Virginia where there are not enough dental practitioners to adequately address the oral health needs of the community.

“We had such a great day in Richmond helping the local community with their oral health needs. Community service is our social responsibility and we are committed to contributing our time and services to our community whenever possible. I’m personally very proud to be a part of this wonderful program. ” said Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli.

Dr. Kamran and Dr. Kambiz instructed and performed extractions and composite restorations.  They also spent a lot of time screening patients to customize individual treatment plans. The hygiene team provided assistance with cleanings and fluoride treatments.  The Nova Dental Partners team and MOM volunteers treated approximately 200 people that were in need of dental work.

About The Mission of Mercy

“An estimated 3.8 million Virginians - more than 47% of our total population - do not have dental insurance according to the Virginia Health Care Foundation. Sixty-nine (69) localities in the Commonwealth have no dental safety net provider. Of the 66 localities that do, many of the clinics operate on a part-time basis and are overwhelmed by the number of calls for help. Without access to affordable dental care, many people -- especially those who are low-income, underinsured, disabled or seniors -- are left to suffer pain, discomfort, and embarrassment with nowhere else to turn. To address the overwhelming need for access to free oral health care, Dr. Terry Dickinson, executive director of the Virginia Dental Association, created the Mission of Mercy (MOM) program in 2000 to provide high-quality dental care for underserved Virginians. The MOM program operates mobile clinics in strategic locations across the State, providing preventive, restorative, and surgical dental treatments to more than 4,000 low-income individuals each year."
