Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign diamond provider

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses comfortable, clear plastic aligners to move crooked teeth into an ideal position in your mouth. The aligners slowly shift your teeth without wires or metal brackets. They’re discreet, clear, smooth, and offer aesthetically pleasing results.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign at Nova Dental Partners offers the following advantages and more:

  • Discreetness
  • Straighter teeth
  • Improved bite
  • Simple, noninvasive treatment
  • Easier teeth cleaning
  • Lasting results
  • No pain or invasive procedures
  • More confident smile

Invisalign is typically a fairly quick treatment. It might last 6-18 months, though treatment times vary from person to person.

Is Invisalign right for me?

Your Nova Dental Partners dentist looks at your teeth and gums, discusses your goals and dental history, and takes dental X-rays to learn if you’re a candidate for Invisalign. They review your treatment options to determine the best fit. Your provider takes images of your mouth to order custom aligners that comfortably conform to your teeth.

What can I expect during Invisalign treatment?

When you receive the new aligners, wear them as directed by your dentist. You’ll wear them 20-22 hours daily, taking the aligners out of your mouth to brush, floss, and eat.

Each week or two, as directed, switch to the next aligners in your series until treatment is complete. See the Nova Dental Partners team routinely to ensure your Invisalign treatment works as designed.

It’s helpful to keep your aligners clean using the cleaning system your dentist provides. Avoid rinsing your aligners in hot water, and contact the Nova Dental Partners team if they become lost or damaged.

Unlike braces, with Invisalign, you don’t have to worry about food getting stuck in brackets and wires or avoiding certain foods.

What happens after completing Invisalign treatment?

After you complete Invisalign treatment, your dentist generally recommends wearing a retainer to keep your teeth in their new position.

Wear the retainer as directed and call the Nova Dental Partners office anytime with questions. Protect your teeth by flossing daily, brushing after meals, not chewing on hard objects, and seeing your dentist routinely.
